Review: THE SUNDAY OKLAHOMAN, December 14, 2003 by Dennie Hall. FIRST BOOK ,"Mottsie, Wolf of Great Price", by Donna Close Murray. Published by:Publish America, $14.95. Donna Close Murray of Oklahoma City has used her talent to write what she calls "the greatest story ever told about a wolf." Mottsie, the wolf, felt left out of everything and was sad and lonely. Then a force came into the wolf's life that was to make all the difference. The delightful story contains some everlasting truths. These are accompanied by verses from the Bible, which Murray sprinkles liberally throughout the book. Although this is her first book, Murray has been published in newspapers and national magazines.

Mottsie, Wolf of Great Price Review by Elizabeth, age 10, 5th grade. October 7, 2003 Oklahoma City, OK Donna, I think it is a great book. It's got adventure, happiness, and sadness, all in the same book. I think my friends would really like this book because it is exciting and has a great story line. The main character is Mottsie, a gray wolf who in puppyhood is very happy, but turns sad because the pack is mistreating him. Then his sister Sennu helps him. She tells him what it means to be a humble servant. Just when Mottsie is happy again, Sennu is shot and killed. Mottsie is feeling sad again, but then David comes and helps him. One day Mottsie is nearly shot by a hunter and David tells him to run. David is then shot and killed. It was then that I realized that David is Jesus. Mottsie is sad yet rejoicing at the same time. Then Mitsa comes and Mottsie finds a mate in Mitsa and together they sing praises to God. I learned that even when we are sad we should sing praises to God. I also learned that when we are feeling very down, God will send someone to help us.

Review from Mildred, Pennsylvania reader: October 18, 2003 Even as an elderly person of 78 years, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am so glad to see something published for children and young folks that will be spiritually uplifting for them yet entertaining. Beautifully written and illustrated! I hope the author will continure to write books that will benefit our young people in helping them make the right choices in life and instill real values in them that will stay with them a lifetime. So much better than these witchcraft stories! I give you five stars, Donna!

Review from Bernie, Thomas, OK reader, November 8, 2003 Donna, you have compiled such a wonderful example of allegoric writing using symbolic means of teaching a most profound truth; that being the the meaning of Christian Salvation. I have a deep appreciation for the clever axioms of comparisons to human nature and for the utter symplicity with which it is done. Mottsie Wolf of Great Price is perfect for the reading pleasure of all ages and definately as a tool for teaching children the depth of God's love for all of His creation.

Review from Kathy, Teacher, Glastonbury, Ct. I just finished your book-WONDERFUL! I really enjoyed it and felt it presented such essential truths of faith in a concise and touching story. It is well told--- straight from an animal lover's heart!-one can tell. Congratulations!

Review from Audell, Edmond, OK I enjoyed getting acquainted with Mottsie while gaining a new understanding of animal life through Donna's research and understanding of that environment. The lessons Mottsie learned can lead a young reader's growth through doubts and fears to the acceptance that each one IS special. Donna's gentle telling, through parable fashion, finds many Christian conclusions and thoughtful questions discovered by Mottsie, that lead to personal love, joy, and peace.

From Bonnie, Singer, Song Writer, Speaker, Edmond, OK: Dear Donna, I love Mottsie in his ups and downs of life. He is so willing to learn as others deciple him. Both young and old can learn from Mottsie, the Official Sticker Picker of his family. He started out last and ended up being the leader of his pack. If we commit everything we do to the Lord our plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3. Mottsie learned to praise God in whatever situation he was in. Children will love and learn from this story, but adults will love it too. The book is sure to encourage anyone who reads it.

| 2-17-04 Donna visited Oklahoma Christian Academy where she visited with Ms Carr's 2nd and 3rd graders, sharing Mottsie, and answering the students questions about 'writing' in general. The author was pleased to hear readings of individual student's compositions, witnessing an abundance of talent. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
