Author, feature writer, Kinder Church Sunday School teacher, animal lover and business woman, Donna Close Murray, explains, "The crosses are inspired by my love of the great outdoors and rustic concepts-such as wood and turquoise.  I wanted to combine my faith with the symbolic wood of the cross, adding a favorite precious stone.  Historically and spiritually, they go together.
     You see, when early Christians made the decision to turn their lives over to the Lord, they donated their precious jewels to the Christian community.  These gems were then affixed to a cross and placed whereever their Christian group gathered for worship.  Christians had before them the constant reminder of their treasure, the most precious gift God had given them-the Cross of Jesus Christ, the means of eternal salvation.  The cross was a sign of their willingness to sacrifice their personal treasures to embrace  the deepest treasure of everlasting life in Christ."
